Site Use Policy

NoNoiseNuisanceNow.net is an online source of information and educational materials about noise nuisance and noise pollution in the Philippines.

We expect you to follow some rules and guidelines while using our website and interacting with its contents or with other site users.

Please read the rest of this statement until the end and understand it. If you have questions or concerns about our terms of use, contact us right away.

Let’s start with the core and essential rule that is the foundation of all our other rules and guidelines. If you have to remember just one rule for the acceptable use of our site, it’s Rule #1:

Rule 1: Be honorable.

In case you find that extremely boring or formal, keep in mind this rule instead:

Don’t be a dick.

Honor is very precious to Filipinos. It is also a value that covers a wide range of other values that we Filipinos hold dear.

An honorable Filipino is honest, responsible, trustworthy, sincere, kind, fair, and respectful.

An honorable Filipino is not selfish, self-centered, or conceited. An honorable Filipino is concerned about the welfare of others.

As a side note, when we say “be honorable,” we do not mean that you should look up to those people that we frequently call “The Honorable So-and-so.” Almost all of them are never honorable, and, except for a few, they are not worth admiring or looking up to as role models.

Rule 2: Honor our property.

All works published on NoNoiseNuisanceNow.net are original. We own these works. They are our property, and we expect you to respect our property.

Some people have allowed us to publish their original works, and they own those works. We expect you to respect their property, too.

Stealing is not an honorable act. So, do not steal our content or those of others. Copying or publishing content without crediting the source or owner is stealing.

If you are thinking of using any content from our website, do the honorable thing — ask us for permission.

We allow you to freely share our site’s content on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter (X), and the like). But, do not copy-paste our content into your posts. Instead, share only the URLs or links to our site or individual pages, but not the entire work. You may share short portions or quotations from a work, but remember to include the source and the URL of the page where you got the quote from. It is dishonorable to just say “CTTO” (credits to the owner) without naming who the owner is or saying where the original material can be found.

Rule 3: Honor the laws of the Philippines.

As you use our site and interact with its contents or with other site users, always follow what Philippine laws and regulations prescribe.

In short, do not do or say anything prohibited by law, including the following:

  • Illegal Activities
    • stealing the works of others
    • cyberbullying or harassment
    • defamation or libel
    • promoting hate speech or discrimination
    • phishing or other fraudulent activities
  • Disruptive Behavior
    • spamming or unsolicited advertising
    • hacking accounts or systems
    • destroying our site through malware or attacks
  • Privacy Violations (see our Privacy Statement for more info)
    • sharing personal information of others without their consent
    • unauthorized collection of personal data
  • Content Restrictions
    • posting content that is sexually explicit, obscene, or offense
    • posting content that endangers children and minors

There are many other specific activities and behaviors that dishonor the laws of our country. Acquaint yourself with those so that you may avoid them.

Rule 4: Honor other people.

Our site provides several opportunities to interact with other site users (including our editorial team). As always, interact with them in an honorable way. Do not do or say anything that will bring you or them dishonor. The prohibited activities listed in Rule 3 are some examples of dishonorable conduct.

Rule 5: Honor our site policies.

By using our site, you promise to honor our rules and guidelines. This also means that you permit us to adjust our rules and guidelines if needed.

If you dishonor our site policies, expect us to act. We may restrict some or all of your privileges. We will also cooperate with law enforcement agencies if you disobey laws while using our site.

Some final words

In closing, we wish to emphasize again just one simple rule: Don’t be a dick (that is, be honorable).

We are already have enough dickheads who create, tolerate, or promote noise nuisance and noise pollution. Don’t be one more.

Rise above the dishonor and the dickiness. We have to set ourselves apart from them if we want our beloved Philippines to be a great country.
